Tissue Engineering and Thoracic Surgery Research Fellowship

We are currently recruiting applicants for a funded research position in Tissue Engineering and Thoracic Surgery to start July 1, 2020. Our lab focuses on novel bioengineering techniques for lung regeneration, recovery, and extracorporeal organ support. The fellow will be expected to take a lead role in developing and performing large animal surgical experiments.

Prerequisites:

Applicants should have completed at least 2 years of surgical residency and will be expected to commit to 2 years in the lab.

Remarks:

The position will stay open until filled. Our lab is based in the Laboratory for Stem Cells and Tissue Engineering under the mentorship of Dr. Gordana Vunjak-Novakovic, PhD, and works closely with Dr. Matthew Bacchetta, MD/MBA at the Vanderbilt University Lung Institute. Previous fellows have been very productive, received research awards, published in top journals - including Nature Biomedical Engineering, Nature Communications, and JCVTS - and have matched to highly competitive clinical fellowships.
