Surgical Research Fellowship

Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center (LH-AAMC) in Annapolis, MD is recruiting for a Department of Surgery Research Fellow. The LH-AAMC Surgical Research Fellowship is a one to two year funded professional development opportunity for general surgery and integrated surgical subspecialty trainees with an interest in surgical outcomes and simulation research.

Fellows will gain experience in surgical simulation and in designing, implementing, and evaluating multidisciplinary educational curricula. Additionally, fellows will design, implement, analyze, present, and publish research projects in the field of general surgery. Fellows will be involved in both prospective and retrospective research related to outcomes of minimally invasive surgery (MIS), foregut surgery, robotic/MIS abdominal wall reconstruction and acute care surgery under the mentorship of the chair of surgery, chief of general surgery, and director of acute care surgery.

Fellows will be expected to present their works of scholarship at various national and international meetings including the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Clinical Congress, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), American Hernia Society (AHS), Academic Surgical Congress (ASC), and ACS-AEI Surgical Simulation Summit. Through these activities, fellows will have the opportunity to collaborate with thought leaders, experienced mentors, previous surgical fellows, and their peers in surgical education.
