BMT Fellowship

BMT Fellowship

Phoenix Children’s Hospital (PCH) is a large tertiary care center located in Phoenix, Arizona. In 2021, PCH had more than 400 new oncologic diagnoses, and performed more than 50 cellular therapies. Both the Hematology/Oncology and Hematopoietic Stem Cell transplant programs are growing annually. Hematopoietic stem cell transplant is a continually developing highly complex subspecialty for which Pediatric Hematology and Oncology fellowship training requirements often do not include sufficient experience within the field to provide competency in the field in accordance with current FACT standards. Additional training is nearly universally required in order to provide competent care in the field in the form of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant and Immunotherapy Fellowship program.

Our program is a 1-year program offering experience in the inpatient and outpatient settings in the field of stem cell transplant and immunotherapy. Fellows participating in the program will have additional access to electives including but not limited to immunohematology, stem cell lab, and HLA lab. Fellows would also be required to participate in research during their tenure at PCH.

Additionally, our program provides opportunities to collaborate with colleagues at Mayo Clinic whom PCH shares a joint-FACT accreditation. Phoenix Children’s Hospital leads the state of Arizona in the number of transplants performed annually in pediatrics and were the first center in the state to offer chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy to pediatric patients.
