General Academic Pediatrics Fellowship

General Academic Pediatrics Fellowship

The University of Pittsburgh Division of General Academic Pediatrics is accepting applications for two fellowship tracks within our Academic General Pediatrics Fellowship:

  • Primary Care Research Track: Our APA-accredited research fellowship is funded by a HRSA NRSA T32, and supports both MD/DO fellows and PhD post-docs dedicated to advancing health and health equity through primary care research. Our goal is to provide fellows the skills needed to launch independent research careers. During a 2-3 year fellowship, fellows will
    • Earn a Masters of Science in Clinical Research through the University of Pittsburgh Institute for Clinical Research Education (PhD fellows take selected courses)
    • Conduct mentored research with interdisciplinary mentoring teams, including GAP research groups with expertise in clinical trials, health services research, informatics, and community-based participatory research
    • Receive grant-writing training, focused on developing a submission-ready career development award
    • Join a community of learners across multiple disciplines through writing groups, work-in-progress presentations, and professional development seminars
  • Medical Education Track: Our medical educator fellows earn a Masters of Science in Medical Education through the University of Pittsburgh Institute for Clinical Research Education during a 2-year fellowship while caring for primary care patients, precepting pediatric residents, teaching didactic sessions, and completing mentored education or quality improvement projects.
