Geriatric Medicine Fellowship

Geriatric Medicine Fellowship

The Geriatric Medicine Fellowship at NYU Langone Long Island in Mineola, NY is currently accepting applications for our exceptional one year training program starting July 1, 2023. Our program has been accredited by the ACGME since its inception in 1990 and our hospital is ranked #1 in New York State according to U.S. News & World Report’s annual “Best Hospitals” Honor Roll in 2022. Please share this email with your PGY3 residents!

We offer a fully accredited Geriatric Medicine fellowship in a supportive teaching environment. Our program provides trainees with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to be highly qualified geriatricians, as demonstrated by the program’s high board pass rate. Our fellows learn to provide expert care for a wide range of elderly patient populations, including independent community dwellers, frail nursing home residents and acutely ill hospitalized patients.

Fellows have training in home visits, urology, geriatric pharmacology, palliative care, geriatric psychiatry, wound care, neurology, PM&R and so much more! We also offer three optional electives: Medical Directorship, Wound Care and Palliative Care to provide additional focus for those trainees with specific areas of interest. Fellows also have research opportunities and financial support to attend a regional or national Geriatric Medicine conference.

Fellowship includes generous house staff benefits, an available 403(b) plan, generous salary ($86,000) and personal copies of the Geriatric Review Series.

A recent graduate said about our fellowship: “The attendings, social worker, and nursing staff were extremely welcoming and supportive and make this program truly outstanding. While working with them, I felt like I was given the independence to create my own treatment plans while seeing patients. This played a key role in helping me gain confidence to work independently in the real world. Without any doubt, I can say that this is the place where I grew a lot as an independent and confident physician.”

Enjoy the benefits of city and surburban life in Nassau County! Our hospital is located just 1 block from the Long Island Railroad, only 30 minutes from Penn Station in midtown Manhattan.
