We are currently accepting applications for two PGY-4 Pediatric Chief Residents for the 2021-22 academic year.
The Pediatric Chief Resident position at Upstate is a year-long leadership experience offering a blend of educational, academic, administrative, and clinical opportunities. The chiefs organize conferences for our housestaff, including board reviews and bi-weekly noon report. They also play a critical role in the education of third-year clerkship students. The chief residents support program leadership by serving as a liaison between the housestaff and program directors and coordinators. Chief residents also participate in resident recruitment and interviewing applicants to our program. The two chiefs work together to coordinate their schedule; this ensures complete coverage of administrative responsibilities and allows for flexibility for each chief to pursue their clinical, educational, or research interests. Our program encourages scholarship for our chief residents, and allocates funding for chiefs to attend one national conference during the year.
The chief residency year offers invaluable preparation for a career in general academic pediatrics, general pediatric practice, or as a stepping stone to subspecialty fellowship training. If you are currently a PGY-3 pediatric resident in a US residency program who would like an additional year of experience in a position customized to your academic and professional interests, we would love to hear from you!
Interested candidates should email a letter of interest and updated CV to:
