The University of North Carolina Department of Surgery and the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center in Chapel Hill, NC are accepting applications for a one-year non-ACGME Burn Fellowship to begin July 1, 2020.

The North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center is verified by the American Burn for both adult and pediatric burn care, with over 1700 inpatient admissions and 5100 clinic visits in 2018. Our unit features 36 inpatient beds, state of the art capabilities for resuscitation and burn intensive care, access to ECMO, specialized therapies, and reconstructive services, including both operative reconstruction and laser therapy.

This fellowship will provide rigorous training in the medical and surgical management of the critically ill burn patient.

Prerequisites:

Candidates must be committed to the clinical, education, and research missions of the Department of Surgery and School of Medicine. In addition, candidates must be team-oriented and collegial, with the aim of providing the highest standards of care to our patients. Applicants must be eligible for a full license to practice in the state of North Carolina and have completed an ACGME or AACOM approved General Surgery or Plastic Surgery residency. Candidates who have completed PGY-3 at an ACGME or AACOM approved General Surgery residency will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Internal opportunities for applicants wishing to pursue further training in Surgical Critical Care may be available. Please indicate this interest in further training when applying.
