Minimally Invasive Surgery Research Fellowship

The Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Center for the Future of Surgery at the University of California, San Diego, has an opening for a research fellowship position to start on July 1, 2023. The position is a paid, one-year Research Fellowship position for the 2023-24 academic year to current PGY2 and PGY3 general surgery residents.

There may be an option for a second year pending performance. The research fellow will work alongside MIS faculty to carry out clinical outcomes research, engineering collaboration on device development, and applications of AI/ML and cognitive load in surgical applications. Clinical research will focus on benign and malignant foregut surgery, bariatric surgery, and abdominal wall reconstruction/hernia. Abstract submissions with subsequent poster and/or podium presentations at local and national meetings is expected with full departmental support. Workspace will be provided at the Center for the Future of Surgery on UCSD medical school campus.

Applicants will be considered on a rolling basis. Pay will be commensurate with the applicant's PGY-level at the time of application.
