Postdoctoral Research Fellowship

The Department of Surgery/Division of General Surgery at the Stanford University School of Medicine seeks a two-year postdoctoral research fellow beginning July 2023. Contracts are renewed annually based on professionalism and productivity. This research fellowship will have emphasis in clinical research, health services research, and collaboration in translational research in hepatobiliary and pancreatic disease.

Prior research either clinical or laboratory is viewed beneficial. The position offers competitive salary and full benefits. During this appointment, you will be involved in clinical research, health services research, and collaboration in translation research in hepatobiliary and pancreatic disease. The candidate will meet regularly with the division faculty to discuss projects and objectives of the research study. Clinical outcomes and health services projects will be performed via medical record review and through the use of national approved databases.

Other research duties may involve organization of current operative databases, video editing of interesting surgical procedures, submission and renewal of Institutional Review Board forms for relevant projects, and collaborating with current clinical research coordinators. The candidate is expected to attend our divisional teaching conferences to learn about relevant disease processes and maintain up to date with the current literature. It is expected that the successful applicant will submit multiple abstracts for consideration of society presentation during this commitment and bring projects to completion for publication.

Prerequisites:

The position is open to residents in general surgery residency programs or graduates of general surgery residency programs who have a career focus in HPB surgery.
