Advanced Practice Provider Orthopedic Fellowship

Advanced Practice Provider Orthopedic Fellowship

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Orthopedic Fellowship is a 12-month postgraduate program dedicated to enhancing the development of early-career Physician Assistants (PAs) or Nurse Practitioners (NPs) or for those new to orthopedic medicine. Recognizing that PAs and NPs are increasingly utilized in an orthopedic medical setting, our program’s mission is to provide the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for a provider to succeed in the challenging world of orthopedics. With a focus on developing competence and confidence, this transition-to-practice program prepares the PA/NP to deliver superior patient care while in a protected learning environment.

The 12-month program uses a stepwise approach to develop learners into well-rounded, competent providers. Each clinical rotation — including sports medicine, hip, knee and shoulder rotations, adult reconstruction, trauma, hand and upper extremity, foot and ankle, spine, oncology and electives — has a didactic phase. The didactic curriculum will be delivered on a continuous basis throughout the program. In addition, the fellow will attend weekly specialty lectures, journal clubs and seminars.
