The Laboratory for Stem Cells and Tissue Engineering (https://gvnlab.bme.columbia.ed...) is currently seeking a Surgical Research Fellow to start July 1, 2023.
The fellow will work under the mentorship of Gordana Vunjak-Novakovic, PhD in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Research Fellows will work with a team of current postdoctoral fellows, PhD students, and attending physicians to design and execute research related to whole lung engineering. The team's work has been published in numerous high-impact journals (including Nature, Nature Medicine, Nature Communications, and JTCVS); and written up in the lay press (https://www.nytimes.com/2020/0...). Previous experience with bench research is recommended but not required.
This position requires a 2-year commitment. Potential applicants must have completed a medical degree, and preferably 2 years of General Surgery or Integrated Thoracic Surgery residency.
