Surgical Quality and Safety Research Fellowship

The Departments of Surgery of the Boston Medical Center and VA Boston Healthcare System, are currently seeking a candidate for our VA Boston Research Resident in Quality and Safety for Surgery program to start July 1, 2023. This is a one-year, fully funded position focused on quality improvement in surgery and is academically affiliated with the Boston University School of Medicine.

During this appointment, you will be involved in hospital and regional quality improvement efforts and encouraged to become an “agent of change” in a dynamic healthcare system. You will work with our quality improvement team to design and execute projects related to the surgical care offered to our Veterans. The team's work has been published in numerous journals and presented in regional and national conferences. Our candidate will be mentored by surgical faculty members that are affiliated with the Boston Medical Center and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Upon successful completion of our program, the candidate will receive an official and nationally-recognized certificate in quality and safety from the Department of Veteran Affairs.

Prerequisites:

The position is open to residents in general surgery residency programs or graduates of general surgery residency programs. Prior research either clinical or laboratory is viewed beneficial, but not required.

Potential applicants must have completed a medical degree, and preferably 2-3 years of General Surgery residency training.
