Design and implementation of high-quality prospective studies will be considered on a case-by-case basis, dependent on fellow’s ability to provide preliminary data.

Fellows are expected to attend all Departmental educational conferences and meetings to learn about relevant disease processes, epidemiological study design principles, and biostatistical methodology. Multiple abstract submissions for consideration in national surgical conferences is expected with a commitment to follow through on publications. The Department of Surgery will cover all costs associated with travel to the entirety of these conferences for presentation. Other research duties include, development and management of the Department’s social media, management of current operative databases, submission, and renewal of Institutional Review Board applications, and collaborating with current participants of the iNSPIRe initiative.
