General Surgery Residency

The General Surgery Residency Program at CMSRU/Cooper University Hospital Program has an ACGME accredited training position available at the PGY3 level beginning July 1, 2023, due to recent approval for residency expansion.

Prerequisites:

Visa information: CMSRU/CUHP will accept J-1 or EAD (H1-B not accepted) PREREQUISITES (no exceptions):

• Successful completion in good standing of TWO years of US clinical training in an ACGME accredited general surgery residency training program (or currently enrolled in a PGY2 year for the 2022-23 academic year).
• Must have graduated from an Accredited Medical School or International Medical Graduates with valid ECFMG certificate (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates)

• Curriculum Vitae
• Brief Personal Statement
• Medical School Diploma and Transcript
• Dean's Letter
• USMLE Parts I, II, III scores (must be first pass) or COMLEX I, II-CE, III scores
• ABSITE scores and reports for ALL years completed
• Three (3) current Letters of Recommendation. Including one from the current Program Director will be required.
• Rotation schedule with Competency-Based Evaluations for ALL completed rotations
• Current year semi-annual Evaluation
• Current ACGME “General Surgery Defined Category and Minimum” and “General Surgery Year 2 Minimum” case log reports
• ACLS, BLS and ATLS certification
• FLS and FES Certifications (if available)
• Copy of ECFMG (if applicable)
