Cytopathology Fellowship

Our Cytopathology Fellowship is both clinically and academically oriented and focused on development of diagnostic skills in the areas of body cavity fluids and exfoliative, fine needle aspiration and gynecological cytology. Our division provides a robust volume of excellent and diverse materials for the education of our clinical fellows.

In addition to acquiring microscopic diagnostic skills, our fellows develop competency in assessment of immediate reads (rapid on-site evaluation/ROSE), participate in the development and implementation of quality improvement processes for our clinical laboratories and participate in the presentation of lung multidisciplinary clinicopathologic conferences and tumor boards at University of Miami/Jackson Health System facilities where integration of clinical, radiographic and pathologic findings are discussed and management plans are determined.

Prerequisites:

Medical Licensing Examination:
All applicants must successfully complete United States Medical Licensing Examination Steps 1, 2 and 3 prior to the start of the program.

Postgraduate Training:
Candidates must be MDs or DOs who have completed at least two years of residency training in pathology in an ACGME-accredited program. Candidates must be board-eligible or certified in anatomic pathology, and licensed in Florida or eligible for Florida medical licensure.
