The Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship training program at Zucker Hillside Hospital/Long Island Jewish Medical Center/Northwell Health has openings in its long-standing, pioneering program for July, 2019.
The fellowship provides comprehensive experiences in a large, dedicated, multi-faceted Geriatric Psychiatry service with inpatient, outpatient, intensive outpatient, gero C/L, and nursing home settings that collectively serve a highly interesting and heterogeneous patient population. This year, we are partnering with Northwell’s House Calls program, which serves approximately 1300 homebound elderly, in a Collaborative Care trimester experience wherein the fellow functions as a consulting psychiatrist to care managers and primary care geriatricians for a population with significant behavioral health comorbidities.
The Geriatric Psychiatry Service is staffed by 12 geriatric psychiatrists and 4 geriatric psychologists, with fellow interactions with general psychiatry residents, a gero-psychology fellow, geriatric medicine fellows, and other multidisciplinary trainees. For interested fellows, opportunities to participate in/conduct research at the Litwin-Zucker Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center in our affiliated Feinstein Institutes for Biomedical Research at the nearby North Shore University Hospital campus.
