Abdominal and Body Radiology MRI Fellowship

The Abdominal and Body Radiology Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona, covers all facets of abdominal, pelvic and vascular MRI.

The robust curriculum includes special emphasis on diseases of the gastrointestinal and genitourinary systems as well as comprehensive exposures to MRI that cannot be mastered in radiology residency training. As a fellow, you will work closely with abdominal imaging experts and gain the skills necessary for a successful career in private and academic radiology practice.

Program highlights include:

  • Balanced curriculum covering fundamentals as well as advanced imaging methods.
  • Access to state-of-the-art equipment at Mayo Clinic's campus in Arizona. The fellowship offers ample experience with 3.0T and 1.5T MRI scanners and PET/MRI integrated with a 3.0T MRI.
  • Up to eight weeks of elective rotations in areas outside of body MRI
  • Opportunities to be involved in nationally acclaimed clinical research endeavors

Prerequisites:

To be eligible for the Abdominal and Body Radiology MRI Fellowship, you must have successfully completed an ACGME-accredited diagnostic radiology training program and be board certified or board eligible in diagnostic radiology at the onset of the fellowship.

In general, international medical graduates are not be eligible for appointment to the Abdominal and Body Radiology MRI Fellowship unless they have completed at least three years of postgraduate clinical training in ACGME accredited programs in either the United States or Canada. Occasional exceptions may be made for outstanding candidates.

International medical graduate (IMG) applicants on J-1 visas can not be accepted for our program. All IMG candidates must be eligible for H-1B visas. Also see general admissions requirements for Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education.

Abdominal and Body Radiology MRI Fellowship will adhere to the Society of Chairs of Academic Radiology Department (SCARD) guidelines for the non-match programs application, interview and acceptance timeline.

  3. After submission, view the required Supplemental Items and Documents
    • Upload each required item in the Supplemental Items section (if applicable)
    • Complete the Recommendation Request section (if applicable)

In addition to the standard application materials required by Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education, this program requires:

  • Two letters of recommendation, one from your radiology residency program director as well as from another faculty member. These must be completed in the Recommendation Request section. Each recommender will receive an email with a link to upload a letter.
