The Pediatric Residency Program at the Children’s Hospital of Illinois/ University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria, IL has an opening for a Pediatric Chief Resident starting July 2021 open to interested PGY-4 Pediatric or PGY-5 Med/Peds residents. The program has two Pediatric chief residents per year, and we have one open spot for 2021-22. The Chief Residents would serve for one year from July 2021- June 2022 and oversee 30 Pediatric residents while collaboratively working with the combined Internal Medicine/Pediatric Chief Resident that oversees 32 Med/Peds residents.
Duties consist of being an advocate for and mentoring our residents, developing resident schedules, oversight of the coordination of the various educational activities, participating in Hospital and University committees, supervising residents in the clinical setting and training as a simulation instructor, taking part in Program leadership activities, playing an active role in recruitment, pursuing scholarly activity, just to name a few. Clinical experience will be as a Pediatric and newborn hospitalist, as well as serving as a preceptor at the resident clinic.
