International Research Fellowship

International Research Fellowship

The International Research Fellowship provides an opportunity for candidates to work intimately with nationally recognized academic surgeons at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson. The goals of this program, in addition to conducting research, include establishing international relationships and opportunities for fellows to observe personally the acute care surgery system in the United States so that they can share their experience with their home countries.

Fellows are expected to be an integral part of the Division of Trauma, Critical Care, Burn and Emergency Surgery, participating in basic and clinical research studies and interacting with the trauma teams in daily didactic sessions. The division targets several large meetings each year, including the AAST, EAST, ASA, ASC, WTA, SCCM, and ACS.

Research fellows are expected to publish manuscripts under the guidance of faculty. As the only Level-I Trauma Center serving southern Arizona, western New Mexico, and northern Mexico, our large patient population forms the basis of all our investigations. Research fellows work closely with our trauma registry coordinators to accrue data.
