Toxicology Fellowship

The goal of the Toxikon Medical Toxicology Fellowship Program is to provide comprehensive postgraduate fellowship training in medical toxicology for qualified physicians. The goal of the program is to develop future leaders in the field of medical toxicology. These individuals will be able to perform at a high level as bedside and as outpatient practitioners of medical toxicology. They will develop the skills required to serve as medical back-up for poison control centers, and understand the skills needed to be a medical director. They will be among the finest academic teachers in the area of medical toxicology. They will be highly skilled in reading the literature critically and will have the necessary tools to contribute to the ongoing body of evidence in the medical toxicology literature.

Prerequisites:

Prerequisites to apply to the 2-year fellowship program leading to board certification are:

  • Completion of a primary residency in Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, Occupational Medicine or other specialty leading to certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), or the American Osteopathic Association.
  • The candidate must be eligible to obtain an unrestricted medical license in Illinois.

  2. A personal statement describing interest in toxicology;
  3. Three (3) letters of recommendation (including one from your program director)
